Jute bag | marjita black

This fair trade tote bag is made of jute woven by hand in a black and natural zig zag motif. It has a black cotton border at its base. The tote bag has a zipped closure, and black cotton lining with a small zipped compartment inside.

Many of our bags are made from jute, it’s one of our favourite materials. You can weave beautiful patterns with jute and many women in rural Bangladesh still practise this craft. With providing fairly paid work for them by weaving, they don’t have to leave their villages and go to the city to find a job.

Jute is strong and that’s what we want in a bag too, but we’re always looking for style! Style doesn’t have to mean harming the planet though, jute doesn’t need any pesticides fertiliser or extra water.

Our tote bag is made in Bangladesh by a WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) certified organisation. They’re one of our partners and we create all jute bags with them. This way we generate work for underprivileged women.
