Short description

Carefully using the ancient art form of marquetry, small pieces of wood are put together to create each piece. The earrings show off the beautiful natural colors of woods and nuts from the Amazon Forest; such as the spotted "tucuma" tree trunk and the white “jarina” nut from the ivory palm tree. Our craftsman comes from a family of marquetry artisans and works from his small studio in Manaus, Brazil; in the heart of the Amazon Forest. His work is an example of sustainable craftsmanship and supports his local community.

Common Texture is an online slow fashion boutique. The boutique was started by three women who, after years of living in India, decided to share their love for the country and craftsmanship with the rest of the world. The products are fair trade and hand-made by local craftsmen and small women's cooperatives who have passed on the techniques that they use from generation to generation. Because every product is made by hand, each product is also unique. The people that made the products are paid fair wages. In this way, Common Texture tries to preserve traditional craftsmanship and heritage and to support the local population. In addition, where possible, they use up-cycled textiles to reduce their impact on the environment.
