Ikat weaving is an age-old skill. The making of the pattern consists of the careful hand tying and dying of the threads, before the yarn is hand-woven. This traditional technique demands high levels of skill and patience from the artisans, and results in a unique and softly blurred design.

Made from 100% organic cotton. Our organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment with systems in place to replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilisers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Made by People Tree Fair Trade producer partner Artisan Hut.

People Tree is a true pioneer in sustainable and fair fashion. They started in 1991 and since then, their mission has remained unchanged: to create products that meet the highest ethical values and environmental standards from start to finish.

Fair trade: People Tree is the first clothing brand that was allowed to put the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) certification on their clothing. This certification guarantees good working conditions and fair wages. In addition to the certification, People Tree is also very transparent about their production. All suppliers are listed on their website, often with photos and videos, so you can really see who made the clothes or materials. People Tree mainly produces in Bangladesh, India, and Nepal, where fair working conditions have a major impact on the lives of employees.

Environmentally friendly: People Tree uses sustainable materials as much as possible, such as GOTS certified organic cotton, organic wool (mulesing-free), and Tencel.
