This is a product for those that like experiments and pioneering. If you’re not into that, this product might not be the one for you. It is the first of its kind fungi-dyed sports t-shirt. A unique product that will hopefully spark the creation of more unique dyes and a newfound appreciation for the clothing that people wear.
It has been dyed with a novel, fungi-based dye called FabFun01 Clean Coral. The dye is completely natural and has been obtained by growing fungi in the BlueCity lab, on local waste streams. Creating a completely bio-based, sustainable product that aims to set a new standard for sportswear.
As this is still an experimental product, slight color variations and fading of the fungi-based dyes on this t-shirt might occur. Instead of seeing this as a problem, we see this as an opportunity to re-dye the product in the same, or another color after a while. By doing so, you can create a new version of the product that you already own. To pilot this, we have included a ticket to a re-dye experience at a sports event in the price, which we will organize later this year.
The design of this t-shirt is based on our classic wood performance products, including an athletic fit and a minimalistic design on the front, that tells part of the unique story of this product to the outside world.

This t-shirt is made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell, dyed with FabFun01 Clean Coral, a fungi-based dye.
All of our products are made with materials from natural origin, which don’t need as harsh cleaning treatments as other, synthetic sportswear. We suggest the following care instructions for all of our products, to ensure that they will keep their performance and last longer.
▪ Wash at 30 degrees.
▪ Don’t tumble dry.
▪ Don’t use bleach.
▪ Iron with medium heat.
▪ Wash with the same colors.
▪ Natural fabrics can shrink a little bit after washing them, which we have taken into account with our sizing.

About the brand
Iron Roots is a sportswear brand started by three friends who were annoyed by the large amount of plastic used in the production of sportswear. They couldn't find an alternative on the market and decided that they had to take matters into their own hands. Iron Roots makes sustainable, plastic-free sportswear, made under fair working conditions.
Fair production: All the products from Iron Roots are produced under fair working conditions in Europe. They produce in Portugal and in Greece, in factories that are GOTS certified, ensuring fair and environmentally-friendly production. Their materials come from Turkey, Austria, and Lithuania, where good working conditions are also ensured.
Environmentally friendly: Iron Roots uses hemp from Turkey, which is a sustainable material that grows fast and doesn't need much water. They also use Tencel lyocell and modal from the company LENZING (in Austria), which is made from wood pulp from sustainably managed forests in Europe. Finally, they use GOTS certified organic cotton from Lithuania. Iron Roosts is a completely plastic-free brand. Their packaging is paper-based.
Locally produced: Iron Roots produced completely in Europe and also sources their materials from Europe.
Vegan: The products from Iron Roots are completely vegan.
Good cause: 20% of the yield of the Sea Shepherd collection is donated to Sea Shepherd to help protect the oceans.
