2.70 m hand-woven silk with brown leaf motif

This smooth, luxurious silk fabric is hand-woven from organic mulberry silk. Beautiful quality handicraft from 100% natural materials. Lenght: 270 cm x width 115cm.

The leaf motif is applied to the fabric with a paste of earth mixed with gum arabic and a number of other ingredients. The paste prevents the paint from penetrating the fabric. This creates a motif of painted and unpainted parts. This dye-resist technique is called Dabu. After dyeing, a black outline is applied over the motif with a wooden block.
