Mpira means ball in Swahili, which is the name of the brand because they have a big focus on circular production. Together with creative Kenyans they make beautiful clothing and objects from discarded materials.
Fair trade: The products are for 50% made in Nairobi, Kenya. In small workshops which support and train local people to give them a fair living wage and good working conditions. The other 50% is made in the local studio of Mpira in the UK.
Environmentally friendly: Mpira only uses discarded materials, and upcycles and recycles them into beautiful new products. Because they use discarded materials, they cannot ensure that everything is completely vegan, but they don't use any animal based materials themselves.
Local production: 50% of the products is produced in the UK, and 50% in Kenya.
