Raffia Weekender Tote Bag in Pink
by Kusuka
This handwoven raffia weekender tote is the perfect companion for shopping, picnics, a city stroll or a day at the beach. The bag’s sturdy design and long handles makes it easy, comfortable, and cute to carry all your essentials. Handwoven over a period of 3-4 days by local women artisans in Central Kenya, these natural basket bags are 100% Kenyan, from their raffia fibers to their leather straps.
The women weavers mainly rely on agriculture for income, but basket-weaving has become an alternative income for these women and their families during times of drought and helps them earn a regular wage to pay for school fees, food, and other goods what results in more empowerment and autonomy.
